ROLE DESCRIPTION - SPEAKER COORDINATOR
Work within a team of speaker coordinators to develop a program that highlights ideas worth spreading from within the UQ community.
Search for and identify speakers and performers. This will include researching potential speakers, reviewing speaker applications, interviewing applicants and selecting the final program of speakers.
Each speaker coordinator will liaise directly with a small group of speakers to assist them to develop their talks within the event theme. This process will include proofing drafts, as well as overseeing various rehearsals leading up to the event. Within the speaker coordinator team, you will oversee other speaker coordinators’ work to ensure they are providing the best feedback possible.
Identify and assist with providing any resources that speakers and performers may need and ensuring these are available on the event day. This includes ensuring speakers and performers have the required props, equipment or visual aids for their presentation, as well as adhering to copyright law.
Ensure all speakers and performers adhere to strict TEDx guidelines as well as the values and ethics of UQ.
Throughout summer break / during semester to initially identify, interview and recruit speakers; and then develop their presentations (approx. 5-8 hours per week)
In the 2-3 weeks leading up to the event to rehearse with speakers (approx.10-15 hours per week)
Monthly team meetings (approx. 1 hour long)
